Natural History

It's so good, but it's so crowded. It is also school vacation week, and what better to do with your kids then let them slam their mucous all over other kids, parents, taxidermy and petrified wood all day? That's right, we went to the AMNH. Holy god. We wondered what would happen if we could secretly record all of the mothers in there blithely giving their kids WRONG information about the history of the world and its people? Not to mention the behavior of and relationships between flora and fauna? Encouraging their kids to be "scared" of butterflies!?! Still, if you can calm yourself, there are always pictures to take. It's rather nice to hide behind the camera, for once, too: I didn't feel like I was missing the real experience, rather I felt like I was cleaning it up a bit.

"...blithely giving their kids WRONG information about the History of the world and of its people? Not to mention the behavior of and relationships between flora and fauna?" Ha! Too true! I wish I could go anyway... mucous-ey crowds and all! Your pictures are fantastic. There is a natural history/science museum in San Francisco, but I can't support an institution that charges an adult $30.00 to get in. Laughable, but really not funny!
