Group Show

I put this piece in a group show called "Rinse, Lather, Repeat (as Desired). It is a piece I add to every day, and wasn't sure if I ever intended to show. I pick up one object per day en route to the studio, and add it to the ever growing, pooling daisy chain. I'm not sure if it's a sculpture or not. People seem to like it, I think it might just be another in the series of slightly sarcastic "crowd pleasers." Maybe when I finish my MFA I'll stop working on it.

hi from in here

It's a deep hole, when you bite off more than you can chew.
I'm chewing as fast as I can, and I think I see a glimpse of the bottom of the bowl.

Let's look at Elliot Hundley and Philip Guston in the interim.

It's All Jimmy's Fault

Ever since he played us this song, drunk, lying all together on the rug at 5am...
it was about a year ago, I think. May Day, perhaps.

Dammit, Jimmy, but yr a good and great one, and yr forever a flim-flam man.

Crossing The Finish Lines

There's such a weird emptiness attached to finishing a sculpture. I thought that embracing failure as a concept would encourage the whole process.

Unfortunately, no.

I still feel like I've done nothing to address the issues I care about, and then I start thinking about Thing Theory and wonder why I bother with objects at all. However, if we all start thinking like that, then who will make the art?
